Taking you to the heart of the Junction

Tram customers in Moonee Valley will soon benefit from a major upgrade to the Moonee Ponds junction tram stop.

Yarra Trams and Public Transport Victoria (PTV) will revitalise the Moonee Ponds junction as they replace old infrastructure with new and more modern infrastructure.

Tram tracks that are over 50 years old will be replaced on Pascoe Vale Road from the junction up to Wilson Street. Approximately 800 meters of track including the new Junction and new termini east of Mount Alexander Road in Pascoe Vale Road will be replaced.    

This modernisation process provides an opportunity for Yarra Trams and Public Transport Victoria (PTV) to upgrade other tram infrastructure at the junction. This will include:

• The creation of an intermodal interchange for both buses and trams, which provides one tram stop for Routes 82 and 59.
• The reconfiguration of the junction, making it safer and easier to access for tram passengers.
• Construction of a pair of raised platform stops to service both Routes 82 and 59.
• The upgrade will bring the infrastructure up to the most current standards, incorporating a new semi-resilient track that requires less time, resources and delays to replace in the future and providing tram passengers with a smoother, quieter journey.
